Mula Bandha

Siva Samhita
Bab IV

Mula-Bandha
atha mulabandhah

41
pada mulena sampidya guda margam suyatritam,
balasapanama krsya kramad urdhvam sucarayet,
kalpito yam mulabandho jara marana nasanah.

Pressing well the anus with the heel, forcibly draw upwards the apana vayu slowly by practice. This is
described as the Mula-bandha – the destroyer of decay and death.

42
apana pranayor aikyam prakarot yadhi kalpitam,
bandhenanena sutara yonimudra prasiddhyati.

If, in the course of the practice of this mudra, the Yogi can unite the apana with the prana vayu, then it becomes of course the Yoni-mudra.

43
siddhayam yoni mudrayam kim na sidhyati bhutale,
bandhasyasya prasadena gagane vijitalasah.
padmasane sthito yogi bhuvamut srjya vartate.

He who has accomplished Yoni-mudra, what can he not accomplish in this world. Sitting in the padmasana posture, free from idleness, the Yogi, leaving the ground, moves through the air, by the virtue of this mudra.

44
sugupte nirjane dese bandhamenam samabhyaset,
samsara sagaram tartum yad icched yogi pumgavah.

If the wise Yogi is desirous of crossing the ocean of the world, let him practice this bandha in secret, in a retired place.
